Support from businesses in Scranton for detective shot in line of duty

Lackawanna County businesses are hosting fundraisers to support Det. Kyle Gilmartin, who was shot on Thursday.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — Lackawanna County businesses are hosting fundraisers to support the detective shot in the line of duty on Thursday morning

Det. Gilmartin remains in the hospital in critical condition following a shooting early Thursday morning on the city's west side.

The shock of what happened has rippled through the community. People are looking to return the favor of service.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Det. Gilmartin's family.

Some businesses have already started announcing their fundraisers, which are listed below:

  • Fratelli's Pizza & Pasta House will donate 10% of all gift card sales to the family of injured Scranton Police Detective Kyle Gilmartin. Gift cards can be purchased at the restaurant Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 a.m.- 9 p.m.
  • Zummo’s Cafe will have 10% of proceeds matched and donated to help assist Det. Gilmartin and his family.
  • Pandarella’s Breakfast & Lunch will host a Panckes for Police event from Jan. 12 through Jan. 14.
  • Pane's Garage will donate $10 from every state inspection for the months of January and February.
  • Cooper's Seafood House will have a King Crab Sale from Jan. 17 through the 19.
  • Jitty Joe's is offering free ice cream to all law enforcement officers who show their badge on Jan. 13 and 14. On Monday, Jan. 15, Jitty Joe's will donate 25% of proceeds to Det. Gilmartin and his family. A special menu item will be offered in honor of the officer.
  • Lynn Sandy's Bakery will donate 100% of sales from their $2 Scranton police-themed cupcakes in honor of Det. Gilmartin to the family. The cupcakes are available for purchase in-store and to order from Jan. 13 to 14.
  • Alexander's Salon & Spa will donate 10% of haircut services and 10% of retail sales on Jan. 17 and 18 to Det. Gilmartin's family.
  • Fusion Hair Design will match and donate 10% of all service, retail, and gift card sales on Jan. 13 and 16 to Det. Gilmartin’s family.
  • All ten Gerrity's The Fresh Grocer locations and all five Gerrity's Ace Hardware locations will accept donations at the register and on their website, gerritys.com. 100% of the money will be going to the Gilmartin family. Gerrity's will match the first $5,000 collected.
