DUNMORE, Pa. — The Dunmore Lady Bucks are celebrating Thursday's state championship with a victory parade in their hometown.
The Lady Bucks basketball team went to Hershey and won their first state championship by beating River Valley in the 3A title game 42–30.
A parade through Dunmore ended with a community pep rally at the high school.
It's the first 3A title for the program, so the fans went all out. The team paraded down the streets to the high school stadium for a pep rally.
Players say they expected nothing less from the people who have shown their support all season long.
"It's an amazing feeling; it's huge, so exciting. It feels like I am in a dream. I don't think it's sunk in yet. I'm still like it's crazy!" said Dunmore Lady Bucks Tristan Canavan and Amanda Dempsey.
For family of the players, the victory celebration is just as exciting. Many traveled to Hershey to watch the Lady Bucks take on River Valley. Seeing the team pull out a 42 - 30 win is a moment they will never forget.
"It's a little overwhelming. It's been in the making for years. The girls prior to this paved the way, and the coach is part of this, and the girls have been part of this program," parent Faith Canavan said.
"I don't know if you can even describe it. It was like I couldn't believe that was their goal, but that's a tough goal to reach, and they did it. They worked their butts off," Susan Kuchak said.
"It's really awesome to see everyone from Dunmore get together, pay for the buses, and that's just what Dunmore is; that's what it's all about," said senior Dale Simons.
The party continues on Friday night with a block party across the street from the community center in Dunmore.
