Spring wine festival at Montage Mountain

Newswatch 16's Emily Kress got a sneak peek at what wine-loving guests can expect on Saturday.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — Montage Mountain Resort in Lackawanna County is gearing up for a day filled with wine and good times.

"We love to support local vendors, and for us, local is all over the state. Every year, we try to bring in a couple new wineries, so it will be different for everybody coming back each year, trying new things," said Kevin Morgan with Montage Mountain Resort.

More than 20 wineries across the Keystone State will set up shop on the mountain for the annual spring wine festival presented by Harvest Seasonal Grill this Saturday.

"We're going to have wine and food tastings. We'll have a full food court and vendors you can shop. We will also have the full bar open, so if you are not a big fan of wine, come on out, enjoy the day, grab yourself a cold beer or cocktail," explained Morgan.

Guests can stop by each table, sampling the best each winery has to offer.

One of those wineries is Grovedale from Wyalusing.

"We have ten wines at the event tomorrow; they'll range from sweet to dry. Some of the most popular sweet wines are the peach and blackberry sangria, and also our Niagara," said Jesse Swisher with Grovedale Winery.

"We love being here. The people are fantastic; the wines are amazing, and everybody is here to have a good time, and we are here to be a part of that," said Kathy Micek with Grovedale Winery.

Guests have the option of a general admission ticket or an upgrade for extra festival perks.

"There is a VIP option. They get in at noon, and that has five food pairings along with special wines that go along with those," said Abbey Merker with Montage Mountain Resort.

Montage's Spring Winefest kicks off Saturday at 1 p.m.
