Victim in Monday's fatal fire identified

New information was released on the fire that killed a man in South Abington Township Monday evening.

SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The death of a man killed in a fire in Lackawanna County earlier this week has been ruled an accident. 

Lackawanna County Coroner Timothy Rowland identified the victim as 62 year-old James Mitchell.

Rowland says Mitchell died after breathing in too much smoke during the fire at his home near Clark Summit on Monday night. 

The cause of the deadly fire in South Abington Township has not yet been released, though State Police previously said it was not considered suspicious.
