ARCHBALD, Pa. — As the first snow of the season fell across Lackawanna County. Drivers were taking it slow on the roads, and gas stations in Archbald were packed with people filling up their tanks and taking a break from their travels.
"I just had to get gas in my truck. I figured it wouldn't be too crowded out here, so I wanted to come, but I can see it is crowded," said Ron Chrzin of Archbald.
But this early snowfall brought with it some mixed emotions.
"I used to enjoy this. I don't anymore," added Chrzin.
For some, it was time to break out other modes of transportation, while others wanted to avoid all the roads altogether.
Brian White spent his day digging out. He's lived in Archbald for the past forty years and was surprised by how much he had to clear.
"Every year, you go through the same thing," said White. "A lot more than I thought. I thought we were going to get a trace or a coupe inches. This is a lot more than I figured. It's heavy. You need to take your time."
Across the street, it's not much different for Anthony Ravinskas. He looks to clear a path from his house to the busy main road.
"I've been here when the plows come by and knocked the snow back into the sidewalk or the driveway," said Ravinskas.
Hoping this pre-Thanksgiving snow isn't a sign of what's to come the rest of winter.
"I hope it's not like this. I hope it's not like this at all," added Ravinskas.
