OLD FORGE, Pa. — After five years of work, a borough in Lackawanna County is now a sister city with a town in Italy.
During the Filittese Festival in Old Forge Saturday night, a ceremony was held where officials from both the borough and Felitto, Italy, signed a sister city agreement.
"The people are wonderful. They are great people; I met with them on Thursday and gave them a tour of the Borough building; we talked about our form of government as opposed to their form of government, and I learned a lot from them, and I'm sure they learned a lot from us, but it was just a very pleasurable experience," said Mayor Robert Legg, Old Forge.
The ceremony also unveiled a new sign commemorating the bond between Old Forge and Felitto, which will soon be placed on Main Street near the border of Taylor in Lackawanna County.
