SCRANTON, Pa. — We continue to learn more about what exactly led to Det. Kyle Gilmartin being shot in Scranton's west side.
Police believe it was a series of calls about gunshots across Scranton, and when police tracked down those suspects, that's when the chaos broke out.
Jeremiah Cleveland, 19, walked out in handcuffs at the state police barracks in Dunmore Thursday night.
Cleveland is charged with firing shots out of a car in Scranton.
"I didn't do nothing," Cleveland said as he was led out. "Were you involved? Were you? Were you? Oh, alright. No, you weren't, right? Neither was I. Stop questioning me."
Cleveland is not charged with the shooting of Scranton Police Detective Kyle Gilmartin.
Court paperwork shows that shots were fired near a home in the 300 block of Prospect Avenue and then again on Harrison Avenue in Scranton before midnight on Wednesday.
Video surveillance shows a dark sedan speeding through the area at the time of the shooting.
Police believe Cleveland was live-streaming it all on social media.
Then, around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, police found the Ford Fusion involved in both of the shots fired calls at the intersection of Swetland Street and North Main Avenue in the city's west side.
That's the same intersection where, just minutes later, Det. Gilmartin was shot.
State police believe these crimes are gang-related.
"What we are seeing is gang infiltration in Lackawanna County—not in Lackawanna County in general, but throughout the state of Pennsylvania. The individual tonight associated with these gangs was involved in drive-by shootings that happened previously, before the before the incident of the officer-involved shooting occurred," said Trooper Robert Urban.
While police have yet to charge anyone with shooting Det. Gilmartin, police believe Cleveland was with the suspect at the time of that shooting.
That suspect was then shot by another officer and is still recovering at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.
Cleveland faces gun and reckless endangerment charges.
Cleveland has charges pending stemming from another incident in September when court documents show he hit state troopers and threatened to kill them.
