DUNMORE, Pa. — United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania broke ground on Friday in a senior apartment community in Lackawanna County.
The spot along East Drink Street will soon be home to a 40-unit complex spanning about 46,000 square feet. Also known as the Bucktown Center, developers hope to provide much-needed affordable housing for senior citizens and brand-new commercial space.
"We obviously have a senior population here, so to open up all this senior housing could be a really big catalyst for the borough. And I think in the corners specifically, it could be the cornerstone of the corners," said Max Conway, Mayor of Dunmore.
There's no word on when construction on the senior apartment community in Dunmore will be finished.
