Driver receives traffic violation after crash involving Scranton officer

The driver who hit a police motorcycle on Thursday faces traffic violations in Scranton.

SCRANTON, Pa. — A Scranton police officer was involved in a crash Thursday morning. 

The officer was riding a motorcycle when it crashed with a car at the intersection of North Main Avenue and Pettibone Street in West Scranton around 10 a.m. Officials tell Newswatch 16 the officer had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

The street was closed after the collision while crews worked on clearing the wreck. It has since been re-opened. 

A video from a nearby business shows the crash along North Main Avenue. Officials say a 17-year-old driver failed to yield at the intersection.
