Scranton man sentenced for stolen valor

He will serve at least six years in prison for stealing from veterans.

SCRANTON, Pa. — A man from Scranton will serve at least six years in prison for stealing from veterans.

Christopher Crawford must also pay back more than $16,000 he stole from an American Legion in Scranton.

Crawford also claimed he was injured by a bomb in Iraq, but he actually deserted a few weeks into boot camp.

He's the first person to be prosecuted under the new law that makes lying about military service a felony.
