Thanksgiving food drive held in Scranton

DPW workers in Scranton took on a new and special project Saturday in the Electric City.

SCRANTON, Pa. — Members of the Department of Public Works gathered at Nay Aug Park Saturday to collect donations of non-perishable food from the community.

The food will go to the Little Sisters of The Poor and then be distributed to people in need.

This is the third year the DPW has taken on this holiday project.

"The need has gone up drastically the past couple of years, especially with the pandemic, so there are a lot of families that need help, and we try to get our hands in there and do our little part," said Bruce Fenton, I.A.M. Local 2305 Vice President.

They will be out collecting food again on Sunday as well as next weekend from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Nay Aug Park in Scranton.
