SCRANTON, Pa. — Police in Scranton say Detective Kyle Gilmartin continues to make strides in his recovery after he was shot in January.
According to a GoFundMe page for the Gilmartin family, the detective has been walking on a treadmill and is working hard on his speech with several therapy sessions each day.
"His progress is remarkable. He's a very strong man, very strong family. That's carrying him through. And he's got a long road ahead of him, but I'm confident he will be where he needs to be in the future," said Chief Tom Carroll from the Scranton Police Department.
Gilmartin was transferred to a rehab facility near Philadelphia last month.
