Scouts learn new skills at Merit Badge College

Saturday marked the 25th annual Merit Badge College.

SCRANTON, Pa. — The Boy Scouts of America took over a college campus in Lackawanna County on Saturday.

The event at Johnson College in Scranton was the Scouts' 25th Annual Merit Badge College.

The program gives scouts of a certain rank the chance to learn new skills and gain merit badges while also having some fun.

"I think it’s just awesome to see especially that we are growing more and more every year. It’s an awesome opportunity, especially at a trade school like this where we have all of the equipment set up and they can get a taste of a real scenario," said Mark Chappell, a coordinator for the event.

There were a variety of courses, including some in electronics, chemistry, and woodworking.
