SCRANTON, Pa. — The sights and sounds of the holiday filled the streets of Scranton Saturday morning as hundreds of families gathered to celebrate a yearly tradition.
The 2023 Santa Parade took over downtown, starting just after 9:00 a.m. turning the Electric City into a winter wonderland.
"It's a beautiful day, and it's a great time to be here," said Tina Cangeme, Olyphant.
Tina Cangeme of Olyphant was out bright and early with her family.
She says the parade is a great way to break in the holiday season, "It's close to town, so it's nice, and everybody's here. It's just a great place to celebrate Christmas soon. There's a lot of floats, the jeeps, the candy, the girls love the candy."
"Just looking at all the decorations and how people put in all the effort for everything," said Eva Loomis, Carbondale.
Nearly 100 groups made their way along the parade route, each having their own unique holiday style.
"Down here in Scranton, we concentrate on the families and the kids. It's not about everything else it's about the kids here," said the Grinch.
Before thinking about stealing Christmas, the parade even got the Grinch to come and spread some holiday cheer, "Seeing all the kids smile, seeing the pictures they want and how much they are enjoying it," he said.
The end of the parade saw the man of the hour make his way down Biden Street as hundreds of people, both young and old, got to see Santa.
