SCRANTON, Pa. — Get out your Christmas sweaters and Santa hats; the 30th Santa Parade is on Saturday and kicks off in Downtown Scranton at 9:00 a.m.
"We have over 68 participant groups in the parade this year. Over 2,000 walkers in the parade. We have marching bands, musical groups," Carrie Powell said.
This is the 30th year for the Santa Parade. The Double 'R' Twirlettes have been involved since the beginning.
"Twirling as either a feature performer or with my group, it's an amazing experience for all because the Santa Parade really brings the community together and it really starts to up the holiday season," Sadie Solensky said.
The Santa Parade is a year-round event. Organizers have been preparing since January!
"Pieces are taken care of, some early, some later and then it just starts to gain speed and gain speed. When we get to the end here everybody is going crazy. It's a long time coming for us," Tom Fritz said.
Santa is the star of the show!
"Come to see the nice boys and girls of Scranton," Santa said.
The Santa Parade kicks off this Saturday at 9am at the corner of Biden Street and Franklin Avenue in downtown Scranton.
The Santa Parade will be broadcast live on WNEP-TV at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 23rd.
