SCRANTON -- Hundreds of Bernie Sanders supporters lined up for hours Thursday morning to attend a rally for the Democratic presidential candidate.
Sanders, a United States Senator from Vermont, is scheduled to hold a town hall meeting at the Scranton Cultural Center at noon.
At its longest, the line of Sanders' supporters completed a circle around a city block. Folks at the front of the line were there as early as 7 a.m.
The crowd in downtown Scranton mirrored the one on Penn State's Main Campus in Centre County earlier this week with lots of young people.
The crowd started chants in line and inside the theater at the Scranton Cultural Center.
"Super excited, and it just goes to show that what he has to say resonates in the hearts of, not only with this whole country, but everyone in this whole area as well. It's just really exciting to be a part of it," said Amy Manerano of Scranton.
"I'll be old enough to vote in August, so I can't vote in the primary but I will be able to vote in the general election," said Kathleen Brown of Dallas. "I'm happy to be here."
A poll released Thursday morning shows Bernie Sanders trailing 13 points behind his competitor for the democratic nomination, Hillary Clinton. Clinton will visit Dunmore High School in Lackawanna County Friday.
