Man guilty of manslaughter in Scranton

The jury found him not guilty on charges of First- and Third-Degree Murder.

SCRANTON, Pa. — A jury in Lackawanna County found a man guilty of Voluntary Manslaughter in Scranton Tuesday.

53-year-old William Auriemma was charged following the death of Richard Hazleton Jr. at a home along Rock Street in Scranton in October of 2023.

The Lackawanna County Coroner ruled that Hazleton was strangled to death.

Auriemma originally told police the victim broke into his home.

The jury found him not guilty of First- and Third-Degree Murder.
