SCRANTON, Pa. — A veterans association in Lackawanna County celebrated Veterans Day by opening a new space for their patrons.
The American Ukrainian Veterans of Lackawanna County in Scranton officially unveiled their Electric City Veterans Patio.
Association leadership said the group faced the possibility of closure two years ago and since then, have taken on reinvigorating the place as a mission.
Through a city and association partnership, the building's patio has grown now, too.
"We had a ribbon cutting for the Electric City Veterans patio to remember reflect honor all veterans who served in Lackawanna County for a place they can join for fellowship camaraderie and just a good place they can gather," said Andrew Chomko, commander.
No longer just a private club the association now accepts every honorably discharged veteran, as well as those who have not served as social members.
