SCRANTON -- A newly refurbished mine car was unveiled in Scranton Wednesday, just in time for the opening of the Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour.
The 25-passenger car has been in operation for 30 years.
It was completely restored and repaired by Belack Equipment in Schuylkill County at a cost of $16,748. The company replaced the car's roof and two doors. It also fixed the bumpers. The car was also repainted.
The mine car was unveiled at a special ceremony Wednesday morning, with the first tour of the season immediately following.
Park officials said the attraction sees about 40,000 visitors a year.
