RailRiders prepare for opening day

The RailRiders' season starts on the road on Friday, and next week they return home to PNC Field in Moosic.

MOOSIC, Pa. — Baseball is back! The RailRiders' season starts on the road on Friday, and next week, they return home to PNC Field in Moosic.

The home opener is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, with first pitch at 6:35. There are 75 home games scheduled. The season opener is Friday in Buffalo against the Buffalo Bisons.

One of the big changes you will see this year is new netting. It goes from foul pole to foul pole. It has been mandated for all minor league teams.

There will be two sensory-friendly games this season.  They are day games, so there will be fewer lights, and sounds will be reduced. There is also a sensory safe suite for children with sensory sensitivities.

A new burger, the Box Car Burger, is also hoping to be a big hit. It has house-made queso, Asian slaw, grilled pineapple, and pulled pork. There will also be a pierogi cart with several different flavors of pierogis.

Newswatch 16's Ally Gallo looks at what fans can expect on opening day and throughout the season.
