SCRANTON, Pa. — President Joe Biden is set to visit the Electric City on Friday after the White House announced his trip Thursday afternoon.
The president released a statement last weekend about the death of his childhood friend, Thomas Bell.
"Tommy Bell was such a friend. I will miss him dearly." Biden wrote in a statement. "Jill and I and our entire family send our prayers to Ellen, their children and grandchildren, and the entire Bell family. May God bless Tommy Bell, a great American, and a good man."
A funeral service for Bell is slated for Friday morning at St. Paul's Church in Scranton.
President Biden's last visit to the Electric City was back in April for a campaign event.
