SCRANTON, Pa. — Excitement along North Washington Avenue in the Green Ridge section of Scranton was alive and well as Pres. Biden made his way into his former childhood home.
It's a place the president often frequents when he visits Scranton, along with Hank's Hoagies.
The excitement could also be felt throughout the Electric City early Tuesday as students and countless others stood along Jefferson Avenue waiting to see his motorcade pass by. The crowds of students also spoke to the growing interest of the younger generations in the 2024 election.
"I think for Gen Z, you were kind of pulling out Strong. I think especially for the younger generations, I think we're saying now more than ever before than ever that change is necessary, so I feel like us being out here is us showing our support for an outcome that will be desirable for the most amount of people," said Julia Edmonds, University of Scranton student.
"I think about what we went through, what we were in the history books. And now this is taking place for my grandkids, to say 'oh we're all part of that,' so it's cool," said Luann Douger, Scranton.
The president is also expected to stop at the Carpenters Local Union 445 building along Pear Street in south Scranton.
