SCRANTON, Pa. — "We're stocking up as much as possible, prepping as much as possible, just thinking about it, we're probably going to be doing close to 50 to 100 times the business," said Gio Novello, owner of Novello's Pizzeria.
Gio Novello, the owner of Novello's Pizza, is hoping that because parking for the rally will be further away from the Riverfront Sports Complex, more people will walk past his restaurant to go and see former President Trump.
"Parking for the Trump rally, I believe, is going to be on Lackawanna Ave, some other places, so there's going to be a lot of foot traffic coming past the restaurant," said Novello.
Police have not said exactly when and what roads will be closed, but they say attendees of the event will have to get public or paid parking and recommended a few options around Scranton.
However, because of the lack of information regarding road closures, some businesses are staying open and hoping for the best.
"We're going to stay open anyway as of now. We're still trying to navigate through it all with the road closures, and it seems like a lot of new information is coming out as the day goes on, so we're trying to navigate through that," said Mackenzie Mangan, a server at the Glider Diner.
"The race happens here a lot, so they all have to know the way to get around.. we're getting here at 10, 11 o'clock in the morning, so I think we should beat the traffic as far as the road being closed," said Kevin Clark, owner of Clarky's Billiards.
While details on the timing for road closures have not yet been released, the doors at the sports complex will open at noon, and the event will start at 1:30, with former President Trump expected to speak at 3 p.m.
