Police: Four escape injury in gunfire in Lackawanna County

Police were called to Commerce Boulevard in Dickson City early Tuesday morning for shots fired at a car.

DICKSON CITY, Pa. — Four people escaped injury Tuesday when a gunman shot at their car in Lackawanna County, authorities said.

The investigation began around 1:30 a.m. upon reports of gunfire on Commerce Boulevard near Business Route 6 in Dickson City. Borough Police Chief William Bilinski said a man reportedly fired at least twice at a car occupied by four people.

Why the shooting occurred remained under investigation, but Bilinski said police believe "it's not a random act." They suspect the incident started in Scranton and then moved to Dickson City.

No one was hurt but one of the bullets went through the car window and struck a seat headrest.

A section of Commerce Boulevard closed down while Dickson City police and state police probed the scene. The investigation remained ongoing later Tuesday.
