JESSUP, Pa. — A Lackawanna County man killed his wife and then himself, state police at Dunmore said Sunday morning.

On Sunday morning, state police found Pine's vehicle in the woods near Salem Mountain Road in Carbondale Township. Inside, they found Pine dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Neighbors told Newswatch 16 the couple had not been married long. Both were described as "nice" and "sociable."

"I called Stacie immediately and her phone was off," said Thea Snyder, of Jessup. "I tried again and her phone was still off.  With all the police presence and crime scene tape up, we just knew something terrible had happened."
