CARBONDALE -- According to the FBI, one thing led to another. Agents went to a home along Belmont Street in Carbondale and wound up as part of a much different investigation.

A police officer carried out marijuana plants that were found in a home along Belmont Street in Carbondale. A few minutes later, a man came out in handcuffs.

Becky Galaydick, a neighbor, isn't surprised, "That's why I won't let my kids outside. This is why. Hopefully, justice will be served."

Galaydick says this house has been a trouble spot in the past, and she hopes the neighborhood improves because police paid a visit.

Law enforcement says Carbondale police are handling the marijuana investigation and the FBI is handling the rest, but they won't say what the rest is.

According to the FBI, agents came here Monday morning to serve a warrant. They won't say what that warrant was all about. When they got here, that's when they found the marijuana.

Another neighbor, Theresa Garretson, says she knew something was up long before law enforcement arrived.

"Something strange, I mean, why do you have people going in and out of your house all the time, you know what I mean?"

Police spent a couple of hours here, going through the home, searching, photographing, removing items. Some transferred into a Carbondale police car, others into FBI unmarked vehicles.

Sandy Broskoskie has lived in Carbondale for more than thirty years. She feels the raid is just another sign Carbondale isn't what it used to be.

"It's been getting pretty bad."

"How much does that worry you?"

"A lot."

After police left, I went to the front door to find out why police and FBI were here. A neighbor answered, saying the woman inside, the suspect's mother, was too upset to speak, but the handcuffed man's mother told me, from across the room, that she didn't know why police and the FBI were here.
