Kids lend a helping hand planting flowers at new park in Scranton

Kids from the Scranton School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children joined members of Scranton Tomorrow to help plant flowers in Christopher A. Doherty Park.

SCRANTON, Pa. — A park in Scranton got a colorful upgrade Wednesday ahead of its dedication ceremony.

It was all thanks to a few students from the Scranton School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children.

Kids from kindergarten through 4th grade planted about 2,000 flowers in the park along Linden Street.

This Friday, it will be dedicated as Christopher A. Doherty Park.

Doherty served as the mayor of Scranton for twelve years, from 2002 to 2014.
