Pet Parade and Costume Contest this weekend

PAWsitively for the Animals is hosting their 6th annual Howl-O-Ween pet parade and costume contest in Scranton this weekend.

SCRANTON, Pa. — This weekend, some pets in Lackawanna County will be putting on their Halloween best for a good cause.

PAWsitively for the Animals is hosting their 6th annual Howl-O-Ween pet parade and costume contest.

The event will be held at McDade Park in Scranton starting at noon, with the costume contest at 2:00pm.

Newswatch 16's Nikki Krize and Kerry Kearns will be guest judges for the contest.

There will also be vendors, music, a live K-9 demonstration, a basket raffle and more.

Registration starts at noon and is $5 per pet. All proceeds go to PAWsitively for the Animals, which is a nonprofit that helps animals in the Scranton area.

"Dress them up, put their best costume on.  You may walk away with a $100 cash prize," Kevin Young said.

"Seeing all the pets that come out and the people and the kids and everyone just has such a good time," Lisa Young said.

All proceeds go to PAWsitively for the Animals to help pets in Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties.

"The holidays put a big strain on families where we really get a lot of requests for help so this money really means a lot to us," Lisa Young said.

"Without this money we would probably have to reduce how much we can help through the course of the rest of the winter with the families that are in need of pet food and also veterinary care," Kevin Young said.
