SCRANTON, Pa. — More than two months after a Scranton Police detective was shot in the line of duty, support continues for him and his family.
The Waldorf Park G.A.F. in Scranton held a pasta dinner fundraiser and basket raffle for Detective Kyle Gilmartin.
Members of the Scranton Fraternal Order of Police say the community's support for Detective Gilmartin has been great to see.
"The community as a whole has been great with this whole thing since it started. I mean, for such a traumatic incident to take place, Kyle came through everything, and we've had ongoing fundraisers; there was a GoFundMe. He's a true fighter, he's unbelievable, he's one of the strongest people that I've ever met in my life," said Justin Butler, Scranton Fraternal Order of Police President.
Another community fundraiser for Gilmartin and his family will be held on April 12th at Montage Mountain Resort in Scranton.
