Pancakes for Police draws large crowd in Dunmore

The community is still showing their support for Scranton Police Detective Kyle Gilmartin, who was shot in the line of duty on Thursday.

DUNMORE, Pa. — This weekend, Pandarella's Breakfast and Lunch in Dunmore hosted a Pancakes for Police special benefitting Det. Kyle Gilmartin and his family.

Employees say they were amazed by how many people turned out to show their support.

"We thought we would definitely have a crowd but not nearly as much as we did. It is amazing to see how well the community comes together to support an officer and his family, especially in a time of need," said Megan Meredick, waitress at Pandarella's Breakfast and Lunch.

The fundraiser was so popular the restaurant had to close early because it ran out of food.

More than $2,000 was raised from the pancake special, and all of the proceeds will go to Det. Gilmartin and his family.
