CARBONDALE, Pa. — Charges have been upgraded against a man who allegedly assaulted a five-year-old boy who later died from the injuries in Lackawanna County.
Devon Boone is accused of punching and throwing his girlfriend's son, Zavier Taylor, in Carbondale last December. Boone told investigators he and the child were "playfighting," and a short time later, the boy began having trouble breathing.
Taylor died from a traumatic brain injury four days after the assault.
Boone was previously charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children in Lackawanna County.
