Giant to start bussing shoppers from closed location in Lackawanna County

After a fire damaged Giant in Scranton, busses will now take shoppers to nearby Dickson City location for free.

SCRANTON, Pa. — Fire damaged the Giant supermarket in the Green Ridge Plaza in May.

While repairs are made, the store is temporarily out of business.

Starting Tuesday, May 28, Giant will provide free transportation through The County of Lackawanna Transit System to its Dickson City location.

Free, round-trip tickets can be picked up at the Dickson City location.

The free bus schedule will run Monday through Friday from Scranton every hour between 6:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The bus will travel from Dickson City to Scranton and will run every weekday from 6:55 a.m. to 5:55 p.m. On Saturday the bus will run every other hour. 

There's no word on when the Giant supermarket in Scranton might be able to reopen.
