New appliances donated to animal shelter in Scranton

St. Cats & Dogs of Nay Aug Zoo received a donation of a new washer and dryer on Wednesday thanks to a fundraising effort in July.

SCRANTON, Pa. — An animal shelter in Lackawanna County received a new donation on Wednesday.

Newswatch 16 reported in July that Dunmore Appliance was raising money for both Go Joe 27 and for St. Cats & Dogs of Nay Aug Zoo.

Speed Queen and the store split the cost of a washer, and donations funded the matching dryer.

Shelter workers say this will make a huge difference at the rescue.

"The commercial washer and dryer are going to hold bigger loads, cut down on the water, cut down on the time you're going to take to wash and fold and get things ready," said Joanne Davis, President and Founder of St. Cats & Dogs of Nay Aug Zoo.

Wednesday also marks the 10th anniversary of St. Cats & Dogs receiving its building from the city of Scranton.
