Multiple arrests after chase in Scranton

Three people were arrested after a suspicious bank transaction attempt led to a chase on Friday afternoon.

MOOSIC, Pa. — Three people were arrested on Friday afternoon in Lackawanna County.

Scranton Police were called for a suspicious person attempting to make a bank transaction at the Community Bank on Davis Street around 2:50 p.m. Bank staff became suspicious after a man struggled to answer self-identification questions. 

Local banks shared information that the person had attempted similar transactions at other Community Bank branches in Scranton. 

The man, whose name has not been revealed, left the bank, entered a vehicle with an NJ registration, and drove away. 

Officers identified the car and stopped it. While the officers were speaking with someone in the vehicle, the conductor drove off into the Moosic Borough. The people in the vehicle got on foot and ran into a wooded area near Montage Mountain Road and Interstate 81.

The three suspects were detained by officials and are in custody.

The investigation is ongoing, there are multiple arrests pending.
