SCRANTON, Pa. — One organization in Lackawanna County spent Tuesday giving back to those in need.
Volunteers with Friends of the Poor prepared and delivered 1,450 Thanksgiving dinners to seniors living in high-rise facilities throughout the county.
The remaining meals were distributed at a drive-thru event at the Scranton Cultural Center.
Tuesday's meal distribution marked the start of the 48th annual Friends of The Poor Thanksgiving community dinner.
"It makes you feel really good; I feel like we get to reach out to people, we get to connect with others, see people and their situations, and things we haven't seen before, so I think it's really good," said Dana James Wilson, Friends of the Poor staff member.
A Family-to-Family Food Basket distribution will be held at the Scranton Cultural Center on Wednesday beginning at 7 a.m.
Families in need will be provided with all of the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. For more information, click here.
