JESSUP, Pa. — It was a first-of-its-kind competition in Lackawanna County.
A meatball and sauce competition on Saturday was part of the run-up to St. Ubaldo day in Jessup.
One of the organizers told us the first try was a success.
"It's May in Jessup. It's the kickoff. The team of St. Ubaldo is like 'Hey, let's do something big here,' and this was something we ran with. It was a 50/50 chance, either it's going to work or it's not. Next year, it's just going to grow from here. We're really, really happy with it and it means a lot to all of us that are involved," said Ron Augelli.
The meatball master received a trophy after the competition in Jessup.
