Lackawanna County man pleads guilty for shooting wife

Bruno Rocuba could face as much as 20 to 40 years in prison for the shooting death of his wife, Melissa, back in 2013.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — A Lackawanna County man pleaded guilty this week to third-degree murder for shooting his wife in Simpson more than a decade ago.

Bruno Rocuba, 58, faces a potential sentence of up to 20 to 40 years behind bars, which is the maximum penalty for the charge. 

Melissa Rocuba was shot inside her home in Simpson in 2013; she died days later.

Her husband, Bruno, told police he was handling a gun when it accidentally went off.

He was charged in 2022 and pleaded guilty to third-degree murder this week.
