Man charged with arson after fire clears out Lackawanna County Government Center

The suspect is locked up and is charged with arson, risking a catastrophe, and recklessly endangering another person.

SCRANTON, Pa. — A man is locked up after allegedly setting a fire at the Lackawanna County Government Center on Wyoming Avenue in Scranton.

Paul Strope, 35, no address, is charged with arson, risking a catastrophe, and recklessly endangering another person.

According to Scranton police, there was a report of smoke in the building around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The fire resulted in smoke traveling into the HVAC system and causing a room to be evacuated where a meeting was being held.

Surveillance video led to Strope's arrest.
