SCRANTON, Pa. — A man is locked up on a charge of aggravated assault in a death investigation in Lackawanna County.
Police said a woman was found dead on Wednesday in a home on Luke Avenue in Scranton.
The Lackawanna County coroner identified the victim as Danielle Barbuti, age 49. The cause and manner of death is still under investigation.
Court papers indicate that the victim had severe face and head trauma and appeared to have been violently assaulted. Several bloody knives were noted at the crime scene.
Police said on Friday that Donnell Brunson, 55, of Taylor, is being charged with aggravated assault based on their ongoing investigation. Witnesses told police Brunson was in a relationship with the victim.
Investigators have not said if they plan any more charges against Brunson in this case.
