Love getaway in Scranton

If you're looking for a love getaway, head on down to the Love Shack pop-up bar in Downtown Scranton every Friday and Saturday until February 17th.

SCRANTON, Pa. — If you're looking for a love getaway, head on down to the Love Shack in Downtown Scranton.

This place on Lackawanna Avenue is nothing like the "Shack" described in the song by The B-52's.

Jessica Bredbenner is the owner of the loft wine bar and events. Her pop-ups have become quite popular, especially the cozy little shack.

"The decor, everywhere you go, is Instagramable, which is why a lot of people like it," said Bredbenner. "Love Shack was our first one last February, so this is our fourth pop-up and second time doing Love Shack."

While there is no glitter in the hallway, you'll find plenty of it in a glass.

"The drinks are also so pretty to look at and fun, and they taste good, and we do a signature one, so every pop-up we do has a fun sparkler in it," added Bredbenner.

If you'd like a savory bite with your sparkle, the Love Shack usually has food trucks parked outside.

"You can bring your own pizza or bring your own appetizers, which people like to do. So it's kind of a mix of both. So you don't have to order food, or you can order the food," Bredbenner said.

Love rules at the Love Shack, especially with drinks like the "Love struck martini" and the "Butterfly kiss."

In addition to some specialty cocktails, you can also buy homemade wine. Jessica is passionate about her vino.

"We are opening a second location, which my original plan was for this space to have it as a wine bar, but it's a little hard with all the private events and the pop-ups so I wanted a separate space to focus on the wine in a normal wine bar," said Bredbenner.

The new space will also be located in the Electric City, right next to Coopers.

"It will have an outdoor patio and a garden, fire pits, and just a nice fun atmosphere," added Bredbenner.

The plan is to open by May at the latest, but until then, there will be plenty more pop-ups to pop into.

"I have a couple other fun ones up my sleeve, a speakeasy one in the future, and some 1970s ones, so we'll see how that goes," stated Bredbenner.

There will also be one for the city's iconic Saint Patrick's Day parade.

"We're excited for it. We're right in the heart of the parade, we'll have a little outdoor area, so we're going to do wine slushies to go for that, which is going to be new for us, so we're trying that out," said Bredbenner.

If you'd like to check out the Love Shack, It's open Friday and Saturday evenings from 6 to 11 p.m. until February 17th.

And if folks keep bang, bang, banging on the door, baby, the dates will be extended.
