SCRANTON, Pa. — The excitement was high as thousands of people lined up and wrapped around the Riverfront Sports Complex in Scranton on Wednesday for former President Donald Trump's rally.
The first person in line, Brian Saunders of Stroudsburg, showed up dark and early at 4 a.m. "After they tried to assassinate him, I said, you know what, it's time to step up and do my part."
People from Scranton are excited to see Trump in their hometown.
"We just want to hear how he's going to rearrange and take care of the country and right a lot of wrongs that have come out of the Biden Administration," said Ron Malachowski, South Scranton.
The biggest topics on these supporters' minds are the economy, wars across the globe, and the U.S. border.
"I am an immigrant; I'm not against immigration. But I am against illegal immigration. I will not open my door to anyone. I will open my door to people who I trust. Same. The border is our door, American door. So far, no country without borders, only America, that does not make sense," said Endang Loukobolous, Scranton.
And with the election less than a month away, these voters are hoping Trump's presence will sway support in this battleground state of Pennsylvania.
"It's important people get out and vote. They're saying it comes down to 1,000 votes I doubt that. But even if you go out and believe that it's like okay, that's motivation to get out there and vote for who you want," said Chris Sensi, Brooke Township.
The presidential candidate is expected to speak around 3 p.m. Wednesday in Scranton, but he won't be spending much time in the Electric City. He has a rally at 7 p.m. in Reading.
