LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — A Lackawanna County man tried to destroy a pickup truck Monday in Elmhurst Township by setting fire to its fuel tank, state police at Dunmore said.

It didn't work. However, suspect George E. Marushock still faces charges of arson, risking catastrophe and other related offenses, according to a criminal complaint.

State police alleged Marushock, 29, of Throop, tried to blow up a truck belonging to a man he sought revenge on for "perceived injustices," the complaint states. He confessed he damaged the truck and then tried to destroy it and the business it was parked next to: Smart Recycling Inc. on Frable Lane.

When troopers spoke with him, he seemed unsteady on his feet and he smelled of alcohol. He admitted that he drank before he drove to the scene.

State police took him to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Dickson City for a blood test, which remained pending Tuesday.

Marushock remained in the Lackawanna County Prison on Tuesday in lieu of $200,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled March 18.
