SCRANTON, Pa. — The tents are up and the Italian flag is raised as La Festa Italiana returns this weekend in downtown Scranton.
It has been a cherished Labor Day Weekend tradition in the Electric City for decades and it all starts this Friday.
Organizers say it is more than just good food - although there will be plenty of that - but also a celebration of the Italian heritage and culture.
The president of La Festa, Chris Dimattio, says the festival is about celebrating the heritage of Italian immigrants through food and music.
New additions to the La Festa include a heritage area which will feature photos, rides for kids, . an Italian car show on Saturday and more entertainment.
The festival will take place from Friday, August 30th to Monday, September 2nd.
