SCRANTON, Pa. — As the temperatures were rising and the sun was shining, the rules were simple on Monday in Scranton.
Kids were cooling off at the splash pad at McDade Park, trying to beat the heat. It was the first day of this week-long hot streak.
Felicia Petrillo of Dunmore brought her daughter out to cool off.
"I had a half day at work. It was such a nice day. It was the first time I wanted to bring her out to the splash pad," said Petrillo.
Some kids were a little shy around the splashing, while other kids were braving the big bucket and the tidal wave it brings.
"The big water!" yelled a young boy named Jacob.
As school is out for summer, kids are already looking forward to everything it has to offer.
"Within the next week or so, we're going on vacation, so it's a little pre-treat," said Petrillo.
They're keeping cool during the first of many hot days to come.
