DUNMORE, Pa. — The operators of a landfill in Lackawanna County have now given the state a plan to deal with recent odor complaints.
In the letter to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Keystone Sanitary Landfill disputes the odor violations but offers an action plan.
The DEP issued two violations in the last two months, citing odor problems from the landfill that spans Dunmore and Throop.
The landfill operators offer to add new gas collection equipment, drones to look for methane gas concentrations, new permanent and temporary covers, along with new ways to collect and treat fluids that come out of the landfill.
