Judge James Munley dies

The Scranton native passed away over the weekend at the age of 83.

SCRANTON, Pa. — Federal Judge James Munley has died.

Judge Munley was a senior United States district judge for the middle district of Pennsylvania. He was nominated for that post by President Bill Clinton in 1998.

Munley was a private attorney and a Lackawanna County judge for 20 years before becoming a federal judge.

He was father to Lackawanna County Judge Julia Munley.

Judge Munley was 83 years old.
