JCC in Scranton celebrates Purim

There was a special event to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Purim in Scranton on Sunday.

SCRANTON, Pa. — Purim is a time to retell the story of the Book of Esther and how she helped to save the Jewish people.

The Scranton JCC hosted a Barbie-themed festival to celebrate the holiday.

There were games, a costume contest, bumper cars, and more.

Officials say the festival was for people of all cultures and faiths.

"The wonderful thing about this event is the ability for us to be able to share our holidays and our culture with the greater community, so it's not the Jewish community that's here today; the entire community has shown up today to be part of this celebration with us," said Dan Cardonick, CEO of JCC Scranton.

The Purim holiday ended at sundown on Sunday.
