DICKSON CITY, Pa. — People lined up outside the Moon Tavern in Dickson City to check out the inaugural NEPA Comic Con.
"We don't really get comic cons around here in PA, so when I heard about this, I thought, this is my number one opportunity. I gotta put on my suit and get down there," said Nate McFadden, Throop.
Once inside, it's like a page out of a comic book or a scene from a movie.
"We're trying to bring a lot of events into the area. I took over the ballroom about a year and a half ago, and I'm slowly building different events for families to do something different," said Eric Kropiewinicki, host of NEPA Comic-Con.
"Everybody that is here, they've got something that they love and something they can share with everyone else, no judgment, just out here enjoying, and it's nice to see this many people have that passion," said Jared Brown, Berwick.
Many attended to come dressed up to flaunt their favorite cosplay.
"Cosplay is when you take any character from any genre, and you, embody the character, and just have fun with it," said Richie Rivera, Funtimes Cosplay.
That's exactly what Nate McFadden from Throop did. He tells Newswatch 16 he's a big fan of the Marvel franchise.
"The new Deadpool 3 is coming out. Hugh Jackman is coming back as Wolverine, so I obviously wanted to partake in that excitement. It's the animated classic Wolverine costume, and I love it," said McFadden.
"People sometimes just want to leave reality behind and just have some fun, it's kind of like Halloween all year long," said Rivera.
"There are a lot of unique people who come out here and like to get down with the cosplay and do something that they enjoy doing and can't do on a regular basis," said McFadden.
Cosplayers could also shop around for novelty collectible items like trading cards or action figures and even get them signed by some big names in the industry.
"We have Tony Moran and Nancy Anne in the house; they are autographing. People are bringing in posters from Halloween and having Tony Moran sign them; it's pretty cool," said Kropiewinicki.
There are already plans for NEPA Comic-Con to return next year.
