SCRANTON, Pa. — The final touches are going up at Lace Village in Scranton as it transforms into its first-ever holiday market.
"It's going to be all the decorations, the lights, but actually, the community coming together is what's going to bring it all together," said Pat Resti, Lace Village manager.
This weekend, more than 30 vendors will fill tents as the market celebrates small businesses in the area.
"We want to share with the community Lace Village—we're living in history here, so we're bringing it back to life," said Resti.
"It's just not old stuff—it's got memories and history behind it," said Vincent Brunetti.
Brunetti has been repurposing pieces of history for the past 15 years. His shop, "Antiques on the Avenue," will be one of the vendors taking part at Lace Village's Holiday Market.
"We're bringing some costume jewelry, some silver jewelry, some small antiques, some antique vintage stuff. And my wife is making these bouquets out of recycled old buttons," said Brunetti.
Brunetti has several pieces honoring the Scranton Lace Company's thriving past.
"They treated their employees like kings," said Brunetti.
The Scranton Lace Company was once the world's largest manufacturer of Nottingham lace.
"It's something new in our area that's been laying dormant for years, and now it's coming back to life," said the owner.
He says this market is not just a celebration of the holiday at Lace Village but also its history.
"Bring back the past. It's a wonderful past from Scranton. There’s a lot of beautiful things from Scranton that you didn’t even know existed," he added.
The Lace Village Holiday Market will be open throughout the weekend: Saturday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
