SCRANTON -- Nay Aug park in Scranton is in the holiday spirit.

For the 13th year, the Nay Aug Holiday Light Show is lighting up the park in Scranton.

On Friday evening, Mayor Bill Courtright flipped the switch on just one of the 100 holiday displays you can check out.

"It's extremely popular. Extremely popular. I think all the children and adults enjoy it," said Courtright.

The city of Scranton ordered 10,000 new bulbs to light up some new displays this year.

"We replaced so many bulbs this year, and there's an expense to that, so it helps keep the display in good shape," said the mayor.

The event is free, but donations to keep the light show glowing year after year are encouraged.

People who checked out this year's display said a small donation is a fair price for a holiday tradition.

"It's nice. It's definitely something to get out and enjoy this time of year," said Ryan O'Hora from Scranton.

Many people decided to take in the sights in the warmth of their car, like Ron Cupp from Lake Ariel. "Is it good to stay in a car on a day like this? Absolutely we were all prepared to walk."

But, if you're brave enough and bundled up, you can walk the trail, too.

"It's a little nippy out. I should have worn more than a sweatshirt," said O'Hora.

The holiday light show will light up Nay Aug Park in Scranton every night from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. until January 7th.
